Check out the many Calanders for local events happening in Corpus Christi.
I know my kids were exposed to Art in their classrooms and certainly at home in the form of crafts and drawings, but we weren't sure where to start when it came to actually teaching them about the basics of Art, colors, lines, textures, etc....you get the point. What we found was a good introduction to Art for children online called KinderArt. It's a great website.
Since I'm trying to incorporate it as a subject with assignments that must be completed, I thought the perfect place to start was by doing an Art Book as suggested on this site. We're at the very beginning stages with only a couple of the pages done, but the children are excited about doing Art and pulling out their Art Boxes.
Here is an image of their Cover Page:
I think they did pretty well on this cover. The bottom one is from my four year old, the top right is from my seven year old, and the top left is from my six year old. It is so neat to see through their eyes.
If you're wondering what they were drawing... it was a picture of their school, home in our case, and themselves at school.
I think we'll do the book step by step and add on to it at the end using other ideas and concepts. I found some books at the local library that I thought could supplement the Art Book really well. I can't wait to see how this progresses! I think KinderArt is an amazing resource for those who teach Art to children.
