The other day, after being up 48 hours helping my sister paint her bedroom, my husband got up to take the kids to a dental appointment, which I was really glad for because that meant I could sleep in. The good husband that he is, he came over to kiss me goodbye and tell me they'll be back a little later. But, right before he left, he also managed to whisper in my ear, 'if you get a chance, mow the grass!'
And there you have it, the words that ruined my restful sleep! So, I figure I better get up and mow the grass, lovely! I got up, got dressed and tried to call my husband because I had a quick question regarding the lawn mower. Of course, he didn't answer the phone, so I stuck my phone in my pocket and went outside to check something. As I was headed back in the house to get a quick bite to eat before getting to work on the lawn mower, I realized I was locked out of the house and I had no way to get in. Just great!
Luckily I had my phone in my pocket and called the dentist and begged them to tell my husband to come home right after the dental appointments because I had gotten locked out! That must have been a hilarious phone call to take! I can only imagine the laughter they got from that phone call.
Anyway, making the best of a bad situation (I was hungry, I was thirsty, I was worried my sugar would drop, and I was hot), I grabbed my hat, that happened to be on the clothesline, and began mowing the grass. I managed to mow the front and most of the back before they got home. Afterwards, I ate a quick breakfast, took a shower and headed for pre-admission for pre-op. Not bad. I managed to get quite a bit done before 11 a.m. whether it was voluntary or not. So, remember, when you get locked out, make the most of it, and mow the grass!
