Christi Family is a blog and local family resource for Corpus Christi and surrounding areas of the coastal bend.Created by a family of five, we blog about everything that matters to us. We invite you to read about our journey as we catalogue our thoughts about Family Matters, Fun Matters, Home Matters, Faith Matters, School Matters, and other things that Just Matter (at least to us). We’re exploring Corpus Christi and are providing you with what we find. Whether you’re looking for local resources, wanting to find local events geared just for families, or are wanting a  quick reference guide on everything local, this might just be the place for you and yours.  We’re filling our pages with resources for mom’s, kids, visitors, newbies, and families in general. As we continue our adventures in life, we’ll also continue our exploration of what we can do with this site and hopefully you'll benefit! Our focus is family, it’s that simple. You won’t find business meetings listed on our calendars, instead you’ll see calendars for families, toddlers, or just parents. It’s your choice!   Join the fun! Let us know what you’d like to see or what you think we should explore! We’ll share our thoughts!
Spring Sports Season

04/08/2010 08:30 PM

If your kids are in Spring sports, then you know what I mean when I say, 'catch your breath!' I mean after all, with practice or a game everyday including Sunday, no kidding, and sometimes two to three sporting events a day, it can get a little hectic around here even if we homeschool! So you see, we're not that different from you after all.

Why all the madness? That's easy, the kids have a passion for it and if they have a passion for it, we try to support it if we can.  It's not always easy, it's not always fun, but it makes them happy, they exercise, and it makes us happy (most of the time) too. Sure, we might complain, but how can you be sad when you have a bunch of four year olds playing tee-ball or playing kickball. Should I really say, playing in the dirt as many of these young ones do while out on the field! Plus, how can we complain when the competition heats up in the older division and the parents are off their seats cheering their child's teams on. It can be quite exciting and do I dare say that it can provide thrills for the whole family. I mean who doesn't like concession stand food? There's usually snow-cones, nachos, candy, popcorn, and frito pie. Alright, some of those are not my favorite, but the kids love it!

Keeping it in perspective though, that's seriously when you need to instill a spending cap per game. Otherwise you could go broke! Still, even with days like ours, teaching, learning, cooking, cleaning, driving the kids around, all you have to do to get through it, is 'catch your breath' and remember, it will be o.k.!

So, to all our fellow Spring sports fanatics; those in Soccer, Baseball, Kickball, Spring Football, Track, and whatever else I've missed,  enjoy our coastal bend air and thank God Corpus Christi is a great place for sports in South Texas!
