When it rains in Corpus Christi you can't hang your clothes to dry 05/25/2010 01:22 PM
When it rains in Corpus Christi, you can't hang your clothes to dry!
A couple of weeks ago, our clothes dryer decided it had had enough. The motor died. After a call to the service technician, and a little money later, we found out the motor was dead. So, being a family of five, and having a never ending stream of dirty clothes to wash, we had to figure out what to do. It's either take a couple of trips to the laundrymat each week or hang the clothes on the clothesline when the weather and time cooperates.
Here's what we're doing. The laundrymat is for big or heavy items like blankets, comforters, etc. The clothesline is for everyday washing.
What I have come to realize is that warranty companies take their very sweet time to get to you the help you need and that regardless of their slow service, the clothesline is the most simplest and smartest thing you can use everyday to help with your laundry.
Here's why I'm singing the praises of our clothesline:
As I watch the grey clouds roll through the sky over my windows, I have to question whether indeed the clothesline deserves such high praise. Afterall, if it rains, it does nothing but get wet. My answer is yes, it is still worth it. Sure, it takes a little more work then merely sticking clothes in a dryer and pulling them out, but if you can learn the art of line drying you can become ridiculously good at it.
By the way, if you've never had to use a clothesline before in your life, I find you lucky. I learned to dry clothes on the line with my mom years ago. My husband on the other hand, had no clue. Of course in my mom's day, men didn't really help with the laundry so he's excused. Now, he's learning.
By the way, if you find my post about a clothesline to be rather silly and unimportant, it may be. I make no excuses for my life. It's rather simple, we don't keep up with the Jone's, and we we're comfortable with that!
